Uniphi Good is holding the First Annual East End Music and Arts Festival, which will feature an “Art and Astronauts” Kids Day on Saturday, September 20, 2014. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., children off all ages can take part in the fun and educational, space-themed art project, which also relates to the locally inspired abstract expressionist movement. Once completed, children will be able to take home their artwork.
The event will also include a special guest speaker, Commander Michael “LA” Lopez-Alegria, who is the NASA record holder for most space walks and longest space flight. “Today’s children are tomorrow’s future,” noted Commander Lopez-Alegria. “I look forward to meeting future space engineers, artists and astronauts at The East End Festival next month.”
Following the art project, children can bounce around in an astronomy bouncy house to prolong the space-themed celebration.
The First Annual East End Music and Arts Festival will also feature an evening celebrating music with performances by Grammy-nominated pedal steel guitar virtuoso Robert Randolph, “American Idol” alum Paul McDonald, Grammy-nominated rock band Tonic, singer-songwriter Toby Lightman and NYC-based Hurrah! A Bolt of Light! on Friday, September 19, 2014.
Fellowship Hall at Springs Community Presbyterian Church is located at 5 Old Stone Highway in East Hampton. To register for the event, visit theeastendmusicandartsfestival.com.
