Hoops 4 Hope, a non-profit organization since 1995, has been working in underserved communities in Cape Town, South Africa, Harare, Zimbabwe and locally. Powered by the spirit of Ubuntu and the joy of sport, H4H provides young people with the fundamentals and opportunities necessary to be happy, healthy, and safe both emotionally and physically. Daily, thousands of children across South Africa, Zimbabwe and locally are without the opportunity of meaningful mentorship and sport. By combining Basketball, our Skills 4 Life programming, and the 7 Tools of An Ubuntu Champion, H4H has been able to remain steadfast in its focus – improving the health and wellbeing of young people. Hoops 4 Hope has succeeded in creating an innovative sports-based youth leadership curriculum that supports youth development in local communities to address modern social challenges. The H4H model is based on sound behavioral change theories, research, evaluation, and experience.
