SUMMARY:Spring Break at Rogers Mansion: Whaling
DESCRIPTION:Set sail into Southampton’s maritime past with this hands-on 
 Spring Break program exploring the village’s rich whaling history. Parti
 cipants will discover the vital role whaling played in shaping Southampton
  and gain insight into life at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries. The
  program will examine both near-shore Shinnecock whaling traditions and th
 e later European offshore methods that expanded the industry’s reach and
  impact.\nKids will then try their hand at scrimshaw-style art\, creating 
 their own designs on soap\, just as sailors once carved images to pass the
  time on long voyages. This program will run continuously from 1:30 PM to 
 2:30 PM.\nRSVP is required\, as space is very limited. Please be sure to r
 eserve your spot early to ensure your child can take part in this unique a
 nd engaging experience.\nPlease note: The program will be held in an unhea
 ted building and is weather dependent.
