Oh, it’s going to be such a good summer. The Hamptons weather has finally turned, the outdoor restaurants are putting out their tables, and a few new signs are popping up to add to your restaurant mix. Here are my top 5 picks for the new restaurants opening this summer.
Maverick’s in Montauk – It’s all about their Executive Chef Jeremy Blutstein, who is at the height of his chef career. The Montauk local, who has worked in kitchens all across the Hamptons building a reputation, is all in on Maverick’s in Montauk, and the quality of the ingredients is commonly showcased on Jeremey’s social media. It’s a must-go, and it is already a Montauk hotspot.
Enchanté in Southampton – It’s been such a sad sight to see Red Bar closed. We all miss the baked Alaska, but in comes Enchante and everything is right now in Southampton. The restaurant is being operated by a very talented group of people, to say the least (East Hampton Point, Si, Si) and if there is one thing that those two restaurants have in common, it is that they are absolutely beautiful spaces with incredible food. It’s going to be open for Brunch, which is hugely exciting for Southampton (most top restaurants aren’t) and the dinner menu includes outstanding menu items such as Peconic escargot, chicken liver mousse, and dry-aged duck breast.
Sag Harbor Kitchen – Want to eat on the docks in Sag Harbor? Me too. Sag Harbor Kitchen sounds so good. Replacing the spot that Dockside once occupied, Sag Harbor Kitchen will have big shoes to fill, but then again, Sag Harbor is rapidly moving out in front when it comes to fine dining options in the Hamptons, so they have no choice but to be amazing. Chef Melissa O’Donnell who is an absolute genius with clever ingredients will offer up one hell of a seafood spot. Look for them to be open on Memorial Day weekend.
Christian’s by Wölffer in Amagansett – You have to hand it to the Wölffer family, they know a thing or two about wine and entertainment. Christian’s (which is named after the late Christian Wölffer) is on everyone’s radar because, well let’s face it, Wölffer does everything right. Christian’s will offer up a menu that is focused on local seafood. It’s replacing Wölffer Kitchen, which was tons of fun, but just think of Christians to be like that, only better.
Maison Close in Montauk – It’s really wild, but the French are taking over the restaurant scene in the Hamptons! Another French restaurant is opening up, and Maison Close is, of course, the same people that own the hot Soho spot. It’s in a spot that is out of the way on East Lake Drive, so you’ll have still water views, amazing sunsets, and what I think, a total revival of life to that unbelievable location. Just check Maison’s Instagram to get an idea of the food, you’ll be impressed.
