Supermodel Nina Agdal will celebrate her latest endeavor, the limited-edition Koio x Nina Agdal sneaker, during a launch party at The Surf Lodge the first weekend of June.
We caught up with the super stylish Agdal to learn more about her style evolution, the chic collaboration, summer in the Hamptons, and more.
Tell us a little bit about the collaboration’s inspiration.
NA: The sneaker is the perfect mix between being fun and summery, but also sporty and chunky, which is definitely having a moment in fashion right now. I wanted a sneaker I would be able to wear with jeans to let them “speak” or with a summer dress to add a tomboy feel to it. I love flowers, and when I sent over my inspiration board Koio picked up on that quickly, so it just made sense to incorporate a floral print on the shoe! The flowers mixed with the white is stunning and I think it’s the ultimate shoe for summer 2019!
What makes Koio a brand you connect with and wanted to partner with?
NA: I love the team and what they’ve done with their brand. It’s just super cool and hip, but also you can wear their sneakers to anything – they’re so versatile. The quality of the shoe is incredible too, which I really found attractive. Plus, we just really got along and they made me so excited about this collaboration, so it all made sense.
Give us a little fashion advice. How would you style the Koio x Nina Agdal collaboration?
NA: Like mentioned before I think you can kind of do whatever you want with it. I’d wear it with a pair of jeans or jean shorts, a simple white tee or a summer dress or skirt for nights out or day time parties!

How has your personal style evolved throughout the years?
NA: I think I’ve gotten more confident with my own style. I used to think I’d have to “follow” fashion but the reality is if I’m not comfortable wearing something, that will show. I have learned what works for me and what doesn’t, and also, the importance of just having fun with it. Your style is such an expression of who you are, so you can’t just pick up a magazine and be like “I want to look like that!” It’s important to add something that’s really you to any look whether it’s a sneaker, a purse or a piece of jewelry.
With summer here, what are some of your must-have pieces?
NA: My Koio x Nina Agdal sneaker, of course!! A pair of vintage jean shorts, simple white crop tops, and a cardigan for when it gets chilly at night! And a summer selection of fun sunglasses!
You’ll be launching the collection at The Surf Lodge. Could you speak a bit about your connection with the Montauk hotspot?
NA: I have spent so many days and nights at Surf Lodge and it really feels like a family out there. Everyone ends up there so it really is the summer hotspot and the best place to celebrate summer and its sunsets (it’s incredible there). It feels like home and whenever summer is over my friends and I always talk about the endless memories we’ve made there!
When you’re in the Hamptons, what are some of your favorite spots?
NA: There are so many! In the summer Duryea’s in Montauk is amazing for lunch! Wölffer is so great for a glass of wine looking over their vineyard. Any beach with a picnic basket for sunset is amazing, and I love spending time on the water boating/fishing!
