Sprint Into Spring With Katy’s Courage During Annual Hamptons Benefit 5K

If the arrival of spring temperatures has got you taking advantage of every nice day, join Katy’s Courage for a little outdoor exercise during the non-profit’s 9th annual Katy’s Courage 5K on Saturday, April 13.

“We look forward to the 5K every year!” Brigid Collins and Jim Stewart, Katy’s Courage Co-Founders, relayed. “This race is such a great way to kick off the spring season and see our community come together.”

The 5K will launch at 21 West Water Street, then head north, make a right onto Main Street, make another right onto Glover Street, traverse through the Redwood section of the course and then commence on Water Street.

“We love seeing all the talented athletes and new faces year after year,” the duo noted. “It’s so heart warming to see our friends, family and supporters in attendance and coming together to support our cause.”

Proceeds from this year’s benefit race will support local scholarships, as well as Katy’s Kids @ CMEE, which offers a safe, therapeutic space for children, teens and families that are grieving the death of a parent, sibling, family member or friend.

Registration and check-in will take place from 7 to 8:15 a.m. The run will commence promptly at 8:30 a.m. The entrance fee is $25 in advance and $30 on the day of.

“It’s a great course and we suggest bringing your kids as it’s not a very challenging course and a great way to create new memories and start a fun tradition,” Collins and Stewart added. “We’re hoping for a gorgeous day surrounded by family and friends and can’t wait to see the turn out we get!”

Katy’s Courage is a Sag Harbor-based organization founded in honor of Katy Stewart, an inspirational 12-year-old girl who died from a rare form of pediatric liver cancer. The not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization is dedicated to championing education, children’s bereavement support and pediatric cancer research.
