On Saturday, September 10th the Hampton Bays Civic Association hosted their annual Duckie Day Family Fun Day at Cowfish Restaurant from 10am to 2pm. The event featured the annual Rubber Duckie Race and Decorated Duck contest. Ticketholders could vote for their favorite decorated duck. All the ducks – both decorated and undecorated – were on display until a little before 1pm, when they were gathered up and loaded onto a boat to await their race across the bay.
Rubber duckies of all sizes were available for sale, there was a food truck, live music and an exhibit by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program where children could see and touch live shellfish in water. The Quogue Wildlife Refuge brought a bearded dragon which children were able to play with.
Winners of the Decorated Duck Contest were:
1st Place – Chamber of Commerce, for “Shelly” the Blue Mermaid Duck
2nd Place – Kathy Jayne, for “Queen Elizabeth” Duck
3rd Place, Ryland Clemensen, for “Shark”
Winners of the Rubber Duckie Race were:
1st Place – Alice Boahivunya
2nd Place – Village Auto
3rd Place – Rapid Recovery
Congratulations to all the winners!
