LGBT Network is hosting its annual Sunset on the Harbor soiree on Saturday, July 21, from 5 to 8 p.m.
“This year’s Sunset on the Harbor will once again support the LGBT Network’s Hamptons Center in Sag Harbor and all of the organization’s work throughout the East End of Long Island,” explained Robert Vitelli, LGBT Network Chief Operating Officer. “As Long Island’s only LGBT services organization, we’re proud to operate the East End’s only LGBT community center.”
Taking place at Breakwater Yacht Club in Sag Harbor, attendees will enjoy a spectacular sunset, of course, as well as festive cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
“Proceeds from this event help the LGBT Network offer LGBT youth programming and drop-in activities for LGBT older adults, events geared for LGBT-headed families and their children, as well as all of our efforts out in the community,” Vitelli noted. ” The LGBT Network has a robust school anti-bullying and outreach program called our Safe Schools Initiative that delivers anti-bullying workshops to students, trains teachers, helps and trains after-school Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs, and awareness efforts.”
Originally known as LIGALY, in 2005 the organization partnered with The Center and SAGE-LI to create the LGBT Network whose mission is to unite these non-profits to expand its reach across the Long Island LGBT Community. The LGBT Network’s East End base, The Hamptons Center, offers a variety of services, which aim to decrease isolation and provide support and a safe space for LGBT youth, adults, older adults, and families to feel at home at.
“This year, we’re expanding our youth leadership programming, launching an HIV testing program, expanding outreach, and working towards a free youth transportation program, too!” Vitelli added.
Tickets to Sunset on the Harbor start at $50 for young professionals and $100 for general admission.
