Southampton Cultural Center’s “An Evening Of Roses” Gala To Take Place Over Memorial Day Weekend

Southampton Cultural Center is celebrating Memorial Day weekend by hosting its annual An Evening of Roses soiree.

“The Southampton Cultural Center is gearing up for it’s 3rd annual Gala entitled An Evening of Wine & Roses,” shared Thomas Farrell and Barbara Kushner, who are chairing the Gala. “This year, the well attended event scheduled for Sunday May 27 will be held at The Muses in Southampton.”

From 5 to 8 p.m., all are invited to toast to the “unofficial start of summer” with superb food, wine, cocktails, live and silent auctions, and more. Walker Vreeland, an award-winning radio personality, producer, writer, actor, singer and voice over artist, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The year’s benefit will be especially memorable as several members of the SCC family will be honored, including Michael Disher, Joan Lyons, Kathy Mulligan, Dennis Milone, Sarah Moritz, Darren Ottati, Sarah Johner, and Julie Crowley of SCC’s Center Stage – which is in the midst of its 10th season – Liliane Questel, Board Member, Director of the SCC’s Rising Stars Piano Series, pianist; and Joseph Romanosky, former Mayor of the Village of Southampton and Vice-Chair of the SCC. The evening will also commemorate Minerva Perez, Executive Director, OLA.

“The event raises much needed funds for the numerous events sponsored by the SCC, including The Rising Stars Piano Series, Center Stage, Concerts in the Park and Southampton Strings Festival,” they explained. “Further to this the SCC provides a variety of programming including classes, art exhibition and live performances for children and adults at affordable prices. The funds raised by the Gala directly help to underwrite the cost of the programming.”

The holiday weekend will also feature The East End Youth Quartet, who will headline a free concert on Friday, May 25. Inspired by the 70th anniversary of the worldwide Human Rights Initiative introduced at the United Nation by Eleanor Roosevelt, the rising stars will enchant the audience with works by Bartók, Boccherini, Borodin, Mendelssohn and Mozart. Tessa Arnzen, viola; Kristina Georges, violin; Sofía Skoldberg, violin; and Ethan Young, cello, who range in age from 12 to 14-years-old, must work as a team to achieve true harmony and communicate through music – a universal language. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and a reception with refreshments will follow.

Established in 1985, SCC offers art, dance, music and theater year-round. The Center also provides the opportunity for those to fine-tune their skills during art and acting classes, music and voice lessons.

Admission to An Evening of Roses is $125 for Emerging Leaders (35 and under), $180 for general admission, and $225 for a VIP ticket.
