Covet Beauty Co., A Bridal Beauty Team Creating Radiant & Inclusive Looks

Covet Beauty Co. Founders Jazmin Alexis and Isabelle Derose

Covet Beauty Co. is an inclusive bridal beauty company that was started by two best friends Jazmin Alexis and Isabelle Derose. After meeting thirteen years ago working in the bridal industry, they realized there were a few gaps in the market and wondered if they could be the ones to fill them.

Fast forward to 2024 and their beauty company is thriving as they serve not only the East End and the Hamptons, but the whole tri-state area. Providing both hair and makeup services in one package, they have dedicated themselves to understanding the needs of every bride they work with when it comes to various hairstyles and hair textures, skin tones, and beyond. They say that “inclusivity is at the heart of everything [they] do.”

Isabelle Derose, co-founder and lead makeup artist, spoke more about the background and mission of Covet Beauty Co. as well as their best hair and makeup tips and what they love most about working with clients on the East End.

Can you talk about the background of Covet Beauty Co and how you got your starts in the industry?

ID: Covet Beauty Co. Is basically the brainchild of two best friends finally taking a leap of faith and doing what they love. Jazmin Alexis is the lead hairstylist, and Isabelle Derose is the lead makeup artist. I started my journey back in 2009 after deciding to say goodbye to over a decade of studying classical clarinet. I made the bold move, after graduating from Laguardia Arts HS in NYC, to dive headfirst into learning costume makeup for musical theater and creating products specifically for women of color. At some point I had all my friends coming to me for their own costume mix of loose eyeshadows and face powder and I was having so much fun. Then one day I just thought, “Hey, why not explore bridal makeup?” and that’s where I crossed paths with Jazmin. Now for her, back in high school, she had a backup plan of cosmetology where she studied at BOCES. She even ended up going to college for Psychology and worked on Long Island climbing the corporate ladder but decided to leave that all behind after finding her true passion while attending a program that taught artists all about the beauty of bridal. Crazy to think that was thirteen years ago and ever since we’ve stayed friends and continued to work with brides doing what we love!

What is Covet Beauty Co all about?

ID: Here at Covet Beauty Co. our mission is crystal clear. We’re all about bringing the luxury salon experience right to your doorstep, catering to women of every hair texture and skin tone for their big day or any special event across the tri-state area. Inclusivity is at the heart of our brand. We’ve been in the world of bridal for a while, over a decade each, and we spotted a couple of gaps in the market. Firstly, we realized there was a real need for a dedicated team of pros who come to you, offering both hair styling and makeup services in one simple package. Secondly, we noticed a lack of focus on inclusivity in the products and techniques used, particularly for women with curly or kinky hair and tan or deeper skin tones. We believe that every woman, especially on her wedding day, deserves to feel absolutely cherished and pampered. That’s why we’re committed to providing not just a service, but an experience that’s tailored, inclusive, and utterly luxurious.

What has been your greatest accomplishment in this industry to-date?

ID: It’s wild to think that between the two of us, we’ve racked up over twenty-five years in the bridal and beauty world, doing everything from freelancing to glamming backstage at fashion weeks, had the chance to rub elbows with some pretty big names in the biz, and even getting our names in those glossy beauty mags we’ve always dreamed of. But what’s even cooler and our proudest moment yet has to be joining forces and birthing Covet Beauty Co. It took us years of back-and-forth, debating whether we should take the plunge. And man, are we glad we did! Here, we get to do what we love and serve even more women in a way we know they truly need and the overwhelming appreciation we get at the end of every event we do proves that to us.

How would you describe your style as an artist? And how did you cultivate this style over the years?

ID: You know, it’s been quite a journey for us. For years, we were all about trying to recreate those stunning looks we saw all over social media and from other artists. But through all those trials and errors, we kept hearing the same worries from the women sitting in our chairs. “I want to look like me, just a bit more polished.” “I’m aiming for something classy, but not overdone.” “What if it’s too much or too cakey?” And since there’s nothing that means more to us than helping each and every woman feel absolutely gorgeous our goal becomes to make you feel like a million bucks, but still completely yourself. We’ve crafted a signature style that’s all about timeless glam – think enhancing your natural beauty rather than covering it up. Whether you’re heading down the aisle, stepping onto the red carpet, or just navigating a photoshoot under bright lights, our aim is for you to look in the mirror and see the most radiant version of yourself, ready to conquer anything.

And hey, here’s the kicker: that feeling of Hollywood glam, that expensive-looking perfection? We want to give you that every time. Who knows, it might even become your own signature look as well, and something you’ll want to rock again and again.

Do you have a favorite look to create?

ID: Our absolute favorite look to create is our signature elevated glam. Beautifully blended eyeshadows with just the right touch of shimmer to make those eyes pop, paired with radiant skin that looks like skin and a soft matte lip. Now add that with a playful party pony that Jazmin absolutely adores, or flowing locks left down to make it perfect. What matters most is that our favorite look to create is always something that ends up enhancing your features, leaving you smiling all day long.

What are your best hair and makeup tips?

ID: Hair and skin health, they’re the MVPs when it comes to nailing that perfect look. Seriously, your glam is only as good as your hair and skin, especially when you’re going for that timeless, not-too-heavy vibe. So here’s the deal: skincare is where it’s at. Whether it’s committing to a daily routine, adding on some hydrating goodness before makeup, or treating yourself to regular visits with an aesthetician, taking care of your skin is non-negotiable.

Now, let’s talk about hair. It’s all about investing in those locks! If you’re into coloring, finding a top-notch colorist is key. They’ll not only hook you up with the best products possible to keep your hair happy and healthy but also ensure your color is on point without sacrificing your hair’s integrity. And for my curly girls! Finding a curl specialist who knows their stuff is a game-changer. They’ll treat your scalp and curls with the care it truly needs.

Last but not least, let’s chat about trims. Yeah, I get it, cutting your hair can be scary, but trust me, nothing says “bye-bye bad ends” like a fresh chop. Your hair will thank you, I promise!

Can you share any latest beauty trends?

ID: I’m totally loving the makeup trends lately! We’re finally stepping away from the heavy makeup, bold brows, and those ultra-long lashes from the 2016 era. Now, it’s all about fresh looks that match our personal style, rather than overpowering them. Lately, I’ve been noticing a lot of underpainting, a technique I’ve adored and used for years to achieve that seamlessly blended look. And let’s talk about glowy skin – it’s definitely having a moment, and who doesn’t want to look more youthful and radiant? When it comes to hair, my current favorite trend is all about that big, sexy vibe with minimal effort. For 2024 we’re definitely moving away from those Hollywood waves and toning down the boho braids. It’s all about effortless chic, and I’m here for it!

How do you have to adapt for each individual you work with and what are your techniques?

ID: Every bride we have the pleasure of working with brings her own unique story and vision to the table. No two bridal journeys or wedding day are ever the same. That’s why, here at Covet Beauty Co., we’re all about tailoring our services to fit your individual needs. We kick things off with a consultation, where we really dive into what makes you, well, you. Your preferences, your style, your vision for the day – it’s all part of the process. From there, we collaborate. Your beauty journey leading up to the big day is a team effort, with your input guiding every step of the way. Our beauty packages aren’t just about the wedding day itself – they cover everything from engagement shoots to bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and even rehearsal dinners. We’ve got every occasion covered!

To ensure everything goes smoothly without a hitch, we’ll send you a personalized monthly prep guide tailored to your specific concerns and desired outcomes. And when it comes time for your beauty preview session, it’s all hands on deck. We’ll go over your inspiration photos, listen to what you love (and what you don’t!), and work together to create a look that’s uniquely you. Because at the end of the day, your wedding day glam is a reflection of who you are – and we’re here to make sure you shine.

What’s unique and sets your brand apart that can’t be replicated by any other artists?

ID: What truly makes us stand out is our unwavering focus on YOU. Drawing from the valuable feedback of past brides and friends, we’ve fine-tuned our brand to fill in the gaps for future brides in the Hamptons and throughout the tristate area. Because of our years of experience, we’re always thinking ten steps ahead. We understand the intricacies required for a seamless wedding day morning, and rest assured, we’ve got you covered. We’re a dynamic team of both hair AND makeup artists, eliminating the hassle of searching and booking separate artists. Say goodbye to juggling multiple invoices, emails, and schedule conflicts. Your lead artist will be dedicated to making you feel like the princess you are, while the rest of our team ensures your entire bridal party is picture-perfect.

We pride ourselves on our ability to beautifully work with all hair textures and skin tones, so rest assured, you and your diverse NY bridal party are in expert hands. And perhaps most importantly, we offer a customized experience tailored specifically to you. No pre-made, one-size-fits-all menus here – just personalized service that’s as unique as you are.

What’s your favorite pastime in the Hamptons?

ID: Whether it’s before or after weddings, we can’t resist indulging in some local treats. A stop at Golden Pear for our favorite chai vanilla tea is a must – we’re totally obsessed! And let’s not forget about Four Oaks for a mouthwatering açaí bowl, or Dockers for a breathtaking sunset and a refreshing drink or dinner to unwind after a busy wedding day.

Also, just last December, Covet Beauty Co. teamed up with Wainscott Main Wine & Spirits for a Sip & Beauty event. Think Paint & Sip but with makeup and champagne, and let me tell you, it was a hit! It was all about empowering women to master an everyday makeup look while sipping on some complimentary bubbly and enjoying good company. Needless to say, it was an absolute blast! We had so much fun that we brought it back for Valentine’s Day on 2/8, and I’m sure more dates are to come!

What do you love most about your clients on the East End?

ID: One thing that truly warms our hearts about our clients on the east end is their unwavering loyalty and the meaningful connections we’ve forged. Their endless support doesn’t just stop with them – they’re constantly referring new clients our way and opening doors to exciting opportunities. It’s these genuine relationships that make what we do so rewarding.

Do you find inspiration in the Hamptons or any other favorite locations?

ID: It’s pretty funny how different our tastes are, but that’s what keeps things interesting! Jazmin’s all about that clean, airy vibe, giving off those minimalistic, beachy feels that the Hamptons does so well. Meanwhile, I’m more of a city girl, drawn to those moody colors and eclectic styles, with a real passion for creativity and the arts. It’s kind of wild how these two contrasting styles come together to shape our brand style in such a beautiful way. But hey, it works! And it’s why we get to connect with such a diverse range of women.

We’re all bombarded with New Year, New Me posts on Instagram and TikTok as health takes center stage in everyone’s 2026 goals. Many choose to participate in “Dry January,” a challenge that encourages participants to take a break from alcohol. Non-alcoholic alternatives are also a great option for those who want to join the bar crawl without the stigma of holding a water bottle. With help from our friends at Kidd Squid Brewery, we sampled a variety of options at their tasting room in Sag Harbor. Here are our top picks.

1. Wölffer Estate: Spring in a Bottle Rose

You can’t go anywhere in the Hamptons without grabbing a glass of Wolffer’s iconic Rosé. Don’t fret! You can still enjoy the iconic, vibrant, fruity taste with their non-alcoholic version.

Tasting notes: It’s no surprise that it is a favorite in The Hamptons. The lack of alcohol doesn’t affect the rich, elegant rose, peach, and apple notes. This is a delicious, fresh, sparkling rosé.

2. Hedlum

Is a locally owned company that produces crispy non-alcoholic beers that perfectly mirror their alcoholic counterparts. I tried their Easy Down Lager, and it was perfect!

Tasting notes: It pours out like a beer with a nice frothy top layer. It is crisp and smooth and reminds me of a Sapporo.

3. Aplós

Another locally owned company that produces non-alcoholic drinks crafted by award-winning mixologists. I fell in love with their credo, “Life should be sipped slowly.” I tried their Chili Margarita and loved the sparkling citrus notes with a bit of a kick. It’s infused with adaptogens and nootropics, which are thought to reduce stress, elevate your mood, and overall just deliver that perfect chill for any social setting.

Tasting notes: Crisp and tangy, with very strong citrus notes, this reminded me of kombucha. It was very refreshing.

  • When Jesse Bongiovi launched Hampton Water Wine Co. with his dad, Jon Bon Jovi, in 2018, he helped redefine what modern rosé could look and feel like—sun-soaked, effortless, and rooted in moments shared with the people you love.

Now, with the growth of Lily Pond Group, he’s expanding that vision far beyond the bottle. Influenced by years spent in the Hamptons’ uniquely relaxed and refined culture, Jesse’s approach to brand-building is all about capturing a feeling: the blend of ease, taste, and connection that defines a perfect summer day out East.

With Lily Pond Group’s emerging portfolio—including Hampton Water, Five Springs, and Mezcal Mezul—Jesse is shaping brands that stand for more than just good drinks. They’re grounded in storytelling, authenticity, and community, with the kind of cultural resonance that turns a product into a lifestyle.

Jesse spoke more about how he got started, how the Hamptons informed his approach, and what he sees on the horizon for the next generation of lifestyle brands.

When did you come up with the concept for Hampton Water and decide to move forward with it?

JB: We saw an opportunity to change the narrative around rosé and the idea of “rosé season.” We wanted something sophisticated but still fun and easygoing, something that reflected the lifestyle we love. When we connected with Gérard Bertrand, it all clicked. The quality in the juice matched the story we wanted to tell, and that’s when we knew we had something special.

  • What began as a shared dream between two young farming apprentices has grown into a year-round nonprofit that feeds, teaches, and welcomes thousands of people each season. Today, co-founders Amanda Merrow and Katie Baldwin continue to nurture the land while carrying out their mission to educate and inspire through food and farming.

From securing ownership of their farmland to expanding their programs, opening a year-round market, and welcoming visitors to explore the property, Amber Waves has become an essential piece of the East End’s agricultural and cultural landscape. Amanda and Katie spoke about their journey, the mission that continues to guide them, and the vision behind one of the most meaningful community-driven farms on Long Island.

What core mission drives the farm today, and how has that mission evolved since the beginning?

Amanda & Katie: We met in 2008 while completing a farming apprenticeship at Quail Hill Farm where we both discovered our shared love of farming. By that July, we were already dreaming up ways to continue farming together in Amagansett. When we founded Amber Waves Farm, our vision was to build something greater than ourselves—something that would outlive us. Our original idea, the “Amagansett Wheat Project,” grew out of a daydream to create a “pizza farm,” and our name, Amber Waves, pays homage to grain production—a line from the song “America the Beautiful”. From the beginning, we chose to be a nonprofit because our mission—to teach and connect people through food and farming—has always been at the heart of what we do.
