Chipotle Partners With East End-Based Animal Shelter To Help Pregnant Dog Displaced By Hurricane Harvey

On Monday, November 6, from 12 to 4 p.m., Kent Animal Shelter of Calverton will be hosting a fundraiser for a Chihuahua named Maggie at Chipotle in Riverhead.

Maggie is three-years-old and is currently pregnant and has heartworm. Like many other animals in recent months, Maggie was impacted by the hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast. She was rescued in Texas after Hurricane Harvey and transported to Kent Animal Shelter. Maggie currently requires significant care and treatment in order to keep both her and her puppies healthy until she is adopted.

Half of the profits from every meal will be donated to Kent Animal Shelter to help Maggie and dogs like her that require some extra care and love in order to lead healthy, happy lives. All one must do is mention Maggie (or the Kent Animal Shelter), bring in the event flyer, or display the flyer on a smartphone to ensure that 50 percent of the proceeds will go to the animal shelter.

“Maggie is one of many displaced dogs that was transported to the shelter from crisis situations in Puerto Rico and Texas,” noted Pamela A. Green, Executive Director Kent Animal Shelter. “Donations are needed to help with medical care until they can be placed for adoption.”

Kent Animal Shelter is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 1968. The no-kill shelter is located in Calverton, New York and provides adoption, spay/neuter, and humane education services. Just last month, they received a $32,500 grant from the ASPCA for spay and neuter services. This generous support will allow the shelter to continue their efforts to prevent pet homelessness.
