LTV Creative Director Josh Gladstone declared that “LTV’s Studio’s Hamptons Summer Songbook Series will become Cabaret’s new home in the Hamptons.” He enthusiastically was interviewed about the “Songbook Series,” the first show of eight, scheduled on June 22nd, with the live show at 7:30 p.m. at LTV Studio in Wainscott. The evening is billed as “The Song is You” with vocalist Anna Bergman and Musical Director & Pianist Phil Hall. The show is produced by Donna Rubin and Josh Gladstone. Donna Rubin said in an interview about this series of shows that she is “… excited to be able to bring this talented array of well-known Cabaret performers to the east end…For some, it will be their first time performing out east… Normally, one must pay quite a lot more to hear this level of Cabaret talent.”
Mr. Gladstone went on to say this music still has grit, “ It is beautiful work with great ingenuity and vitality, so when given the opportunity to program a new room, I felt (Cabaret) is underserved and there is an audience!” Then he emphasized, “These cabaret performers are resilient, and while many venues have closed (due to the pandemic), these performers are still working where and when they can. They are appreciative of a new venue, a new room because rooms are closing all over the country,” having never recovered financially because of the pandemic. “Cabaret works in Manhattan and East Hampton. I want to give this small and intimate room over to the artists who are just veterans of this craft and have been at it for decades and who are masters!”
Donna Rubin added, “ I moved out to the Hamptons full-time after running and owning the “Hot Yoga” studios for twenty-five years and going back to my show business roots, I was in Phantom of the Opera and Carousel basically I was in the arts before I went into the yoga business.” Then she added, “Josh and I had a nice conversation telling him what I was interested in doing out here in the Hamptons, and he mentioned it would be great to have a cabaret series.” She added, “We were on the same wavelength, same page, and said I would love to help with doing this series, so we joined forces.”
The “Song is You” will have Anna Bergman serenade the LTV guests with beloved songs from Broadway musicals films by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Kern, George & Ira Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, Alan J. Lerner, Sheldon Harnick, Michel Legrand, Charles Trenet, Franz Lehar, Noel Coward and signature songs for Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich. Josh Gladstone said, “There is always a happy, lively vibe for a crowd that likes to come out, socialize, and listen to the music they feel connected to whenever it has been presented live in the Hamptons. (This group) is good for a small room like ours, with the intimacy of being up close seated at the café tables that we bought, along with linens in order to transform this very flexible space.” Then there is the reality of the ample safe parking right at LTV in their lot. There is never a hassle parking like the difficulty of Sag Harbor parking on a Saturday night.
Mr. Gladstone said there will be ” eight different performances on eight Saturday nights of eight really different and wonderful talents. You can park easily, and you can also get a ‘Prosecco’ and a ‘Levain’ cookie and sit back at a café table with a little sparkling lite, and you can be up-close with greatness. These are great performers.
