Take a Stroll to the Sea with your favorite four-legged friend during Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons’ (ARF) 24th annual Columbus Day weekend Dog Walk on Saturday, October 7 in East Hampton. The family fun event promotes responsible dog ownership and awareness of ARF. The event will kick off with registration at 9 a.m. and last until 12 p.m. The walk officially begins at 10 a.m. from Mulford Farm in East Hampton and mutts, purebreds, and pedigrees are all invited to take the two-mile walk to the ocean and back to help the animals at the Adoption Center. The ARF Mobile Adoption Van will lead the walkers to the ocean and back and will feature animals available for adoption.
“It’s one of our favorite days of the year,” said Jamie Berger, Director of Marketing & Communications at ARF. “Now in its 24th year, the Stroll to the Sea Dog Walk is great way to support the animals at ARF while having fun with the whole family.”
The morning includes complimentary refreshments, t-shirt (artwork by Isaac Mizrahi), a tote bag, nail clippings for dogs, dog treats, contests, dog agility course, and music.
It’s easy to raise pledges by going to support.arfhamptons.org, where you can set up your own page or join a team. The prizes for top fundraisers include: two-night stay in Club level room accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, Georgia, a summer share for the 2018 season at Amber Waves Farm in Amagansett, and an acrylic portrait of your pet by artist Ellen Silverberg. The top child prize (13 and under) is a bicycle from the Sag Harbor Cycle Company. The dog contests and awards ceremony at Mulford Farm begin at 11 a.m.
Everyone who collects $250 or more in pledges receives a special gift, courtesy of Isaac Mizrahi. Those who register at the $125 level or higher are invited to attend the exclusive Kick-Off Cocktail Party on Friday, October 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., hosted by Candy & Mark Udell of London Jewelers.
