Peconic Baykeeper (PBK) will raise a glass to our bays on Friday, July 14 by hosting the inaugural A Toast to Our Bays, Partnering Industry and the Environment. Taking place at Macari Vineyards and Winery in Cutchogue from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees will enjoy an evening of local seafood and wine.
“At just $30 for an evening of local wine and seafood to support drinkable, swimamble, and fishable water, A Toast to Our Bays is one of the best deals in the Hamptons this summer,” shared Sean O’Neill, Peconic Baykeeper’s Executive Director and Baykeeper.
Local wine for the event will be provided by Macari Wines and the seafood is courtesy of Harvest Moon Shellfish Co. and Haskell’s Seafood. There will also be a presentation on the mutually beneficial relationship between bay health and local industries.

All proceeds from the summer soiree will support Peconic Baykeeper’s clean water mission. Peconic Baykeeper is a non-profit organization, based in Quogue that is dedicated to protecting and restoring Long Island’s drinkable, swimmable and fishable waters. Some of the organization’s 2016-17 initiatives include a collaborative Blue Crab Tagging study with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) where PBK will set crab pots this summer in the Peconic and South Shore bays, specifically tagging spawning female blue crabs so that their movements may be studied throughout the season as the waters warm, and the Eastern Long Island-Southampton chapter of The Blue Water Task Force, a volunteer-run water quality monitoring and testing program hosted by The Surfrider Foundation that identifies any potential problems with pollution that in coastal waters.
Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased online or over the phone.
