On Friday, March 3rd, join CfAR – Citizens for Access Rights for a few rousing rounds of multifarious quizzing during the not for profit organization’s annual Winter Trivia Night. Taking place at the Amagansett American Legion Hall, contestants may secure a table for their group starting at 6:30 p.m. and the electrifying query of trivial facts will begin at 7 p.m.
“We look forward to our annual winter trivia night each year as our supporters really enjoy it and it keeps public beach access front of mind even in the winter,” shared Nicole Starr Castillo of Cfar. “As we gear up for the summer season it is still important to continue to stress the awareness of maintaining public beach access as it is always under threat to be lessened.”
Attendees will be tested on everything from geography, history and current events to entertainment, Hamptons history and music – so make sure to team up with friends who are experts on varied topics because there is a cash prize at stake.
“The funds for trivia night as well as the other fundraisers we host, go towards continuing this awareness as well as supporting the town and the trustees in the defense of lawsuits threatening public beach access,” added Castillo. “Although the recent case again Napeague ruled in the public’s favor, an appeal is imminent therefore we must continue to support the defense of the lawsuit as well as future lawsuits.”
Contestants may form teams of up to four people, and singles can also register.
To compete, the registration fee is $25 per person ($20 for 2017 CfAR members). All proceeds from the evening will support CfAR’s efforts to safeguard East End beach access.
Cfar’s mission is to “protect ALL forms of public access to our beaches and preserve the rights and traditions enjoyed by residents since colonial times, inform the public about attempts to restrict free and open access to our beaches through privatization or eliminating access, lobby for legislation and government actions that support our goals and objectives, ensure that full access and recreational opportunities are open to the greatest number of people, not just the priveleged few, and promote and encourage proper stewardship of our beaches and coastal waters.”
