She’s dressed stars like Anne Hathaway, Selena Gomez, Mariska Hargitay, and more. We sat down with the renowned style maker to see how she likes to relax and unwind on the East End.
Erin, you’re a celebrity stylist working with some of the biggest names in the business. What has kept you passionate about your work after all of these years?
I’m passionate about the bigger picture, and the idea that what you wear can be incredibly transformative if you decide to get intentional about it. Fashion is one of the main tools we have to uplevel our lives, shift our moods, and manifest the story we want to tell the world. When I stay rooted in the why of what I do, I can’t help but be hopeful and love it. We all deserve the opportunity to grow, to learn to love ourselves, and to better witness our own beauty and what we have to offer the world. Getting smart about style is one incredibly joyful way to harness our innate superpower.
We love seeing you all over Anne Hathaway’s socials! How do you describe her style evolution?
It’s all about joy. People love Annie’s style and love to watch her because they want to feel how she seems to be feeling— confident, glowing, empowered, at ease. The clothes do the talking for the vibe.
You were just at the Cannes Film Festival. What were the highlights for you this year?
Cannes is always a whirlwind. I loved so many of the looks. Mariska Hargitay’s style evolution is a joy to be a part of; what a badass, remarkable, wonderful woman. And Emma Mackey— we’re just getting started, but she is such a fantastic, witty, and beautiful breath of fresh air.
What was your first styling job?
I was a fashion assistant at Vogue magazine. It’s the best training you can get—a relentless, glorious, transformative, inspiring boot camp!
At what point in your career did you realize that you made it?
I don’t know if there is a “made it” moment, but the Valentino show with Anne [Hathaway] in Rome with Pierpaolo Piccioli [of Balenciaga] felt extremely out of body, as did a special dinner with Donatella Versace. I feel overwhelmed with gratitude most of the time. And when I don’t, I remind myself to get right back there.
How do you describe Hamptons summer style?
Easy, breezy, elevated, elegant, and light.
What are some of your favorite places to unwind when you’re on the East End?
Duryea’s is glorious, Gerard Beach walks, Ditch Plains Beach, Fierce Grace yoga, running on East Hampton back roads, Clic in East Hampton, Crow’s Nest evenings with kids, and il Buco al Mare in Amagansett.
What are you gearing up for this summer?
A whole lot of time without plans and letting the days and nights bleed into each other. Plenty of rest, relaxation, and making memories.
