Get Creative This Winter: Sag Harbor-Based Cultural Cafe To Host Three Courses

Looking for something intellectually stimulating to do this winter season? Canio’s Cultural Cafe in Sag Harbor is offering several courses this winter to help participants expand the mind, connect with neighbors, and be inspired to new creative projects.

Dante’s Divine Comedy will kick off the course series on Monday, January 9th. This course, which will also be held on Monday, January 16th, and Monday, January 23rd, will focus on an overview of the master work and a closer look at Dante’s trilogy – Divine Comedy. Canio Pavone, founding owner of the bookshop and Dante aficionado, will lead the series. The text used will be the Hollander translation. The series will conclude with a luncheon provided at the bookshop. Registration is required and space is limited.

A six-week discussion course “Seeing Systems: Peace, Justice, and Sustainability” will begin on Thursday, January 12th. The class will be held on Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Look forward to short readings by Desmond Tutu, Thich Nhat Hahn, Helen Caldicott, Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, Howard Zinn and more are included in the course booklet. The course is designed to help participants understand how peace, justice, and sustainability are all interconnected. Registration is required and space is limited.

Scott Chaskey, poet and farmer of This Common Ground and Seedtime: On the History, Husbandry, Politics and Promise of Seeds, will lead a two-session nature writing workshop this winter. Participants can look forward to readings and reflections on the genre. Dates and fee are to be determined. Register to secure your spot in this popular workshop.
