Amber Waves Farm is a nonprofit teaching farm in Amagansett, New York, focused on connecting food, farming, and community. The organization is built on four core values: stewardship, sustainability, community, and exploration. Through these principles, Amber Waves works to preserve local farmland, support food security, provide public access to agricultural spaces, and educate people of all ages about farming and healthy eating. Its mission is to create educational opportunities for aspiring farmers, cooks, and consumers while promoting a stronger connection between people and the food they eat.

The farm was founded by Amanda Merrow and Katie Baldwin, who met in 2008 while participating in a farming apprenticeship program. Inspired by their shared passion for agriculture, they leased seven acres of farmland in 2009 and established Amber Waves Farm. Over the years, they built strong relationships with local residents and created a welcoming environment where visitors could learn about farming and become involved in the agricultural community. In 2016, with support from donors and community members, they purchased the farmland they had been cultivating, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

Today, Amber Waves Farm operates on more than 30 acres across Amagansett and East Hampton and has become an important community resource. Amber Waves offers a unique experience that allows people to connect with nature and support local farming. Tourists and residents alike enjoy visiting the farm to shop for locally grown food, attend events, and experience the area’s agricultural heritage. The farm produces a wide variety of crops, runs educational programs for children and adults, and trains new farmers through its apprenticeship program. It also supports local food security efforts by donating fresh produce and maintaining public access to its farm spaces. Through its commitment to education, sustainability, and community engagement, Amber Waves Farm continues to inspire people while helping build a more resilient local food system.
