There are restaurants that simply serve a meal, and then there are restaurants that create unforgettable memories and experiences. Lulu Kitchen & Bar in Sag Harbor is the latter. I recently stopped in for lunch with my co-worker, Val, and from the moment we walked through the door, it was clear why this has become one of the Hamptons’ most celebrated dining destinations.
The first thing that grabs your attention is the incredible interior. Warm wood, soaring ceilings, and an open kitchen create a space that feels both rustic and sophisticated. Whether you choose to dine inside or outside, the atmosphere is energetic. The outdoor seating places you right on Main Street, making it one of the best spots in Sag Harbor to enjoy lunch while watching the village come to life.
One of Lulu’s defining features is its commitment to wood-fired cooking. Nearly everything is prepared over a live fire using actual wood logs, giving the food a distinctive depth of flavor that is difficult to replicate. You can actually see the flames working behind the scenes, adding to the experience.
Our meal was outstanding. The legendary wood-fired cauliflower arrived as an enormous head of cauliflower, beautifully charred on the outside while remaining perfectly tender inside. It was one of those dishes that completely exceeded expectations, and you can only find it at this restaurant. Just this dish alone is an experience on its own. We also ordered the burrata, which arrived looking almost too beautiful to eat. IT’S SO GOOD!
Even something as simple as the unsweetened iced tea felt luxurious. Every detail, from the presentation to the service, reflected the care that goes into the restaurant.
Although I didn’t order the Lobster Cobb Salad, I watched one being delivered to another table and couldn’t believe the size of it. It was absolutely enormous and instantly became the dish I want to try on my next visit.Lulu also features a fantastic bar with an impressive selection of local craft beers alongside outstanding international offerings, making it just as appealing for an afternoon drink as it is for a full meal.
A special mention also goes to manager Joshua, who helps create the welcoming, polished atmosphere that makes the restaurant feel so special. Great management shows in every detail, and it certainly shows here.Sag Harbor has no shortage of excellent restaurants, but Lulu Kitchen & Bar stands in a class of its own. Between the spectacular setting, world-class wood-fired cuisine, exceptional service, and vibrant atmosphere, it’s the kind of restaurant you’ll find yourself recommending to everyone. If you’re looking for one of the finest dining experiences in the Hamptons, Lulu Kitchen & Bar is at the top of the list.
