Hill House has grown since its early days. What’s one thing about your life today that would shock the Nell who launched the company in 2016?
The stores. I think 2016 Nell would be floored that we have nine permanent retail locations. I don’t think I could have predicted that Hill House would grow into this full lifestyle ecosystem spanning ready-to-wear, swim, children’s, home, accessories, and collaborations. The Nap Dress alone would probably send her into shock.
You built Hill House while raising three children. How has your definition of success changed since becoming a mother?
Becoming a mother didn’t change my ambition, but it did change my definition of success. Today, success is much more about building something my children will be proud of someday— a company that reflects my values and shows them what it looks like to create something with purpose, creativity, and resilience.

You recently collaborated with Roller Rabbit. What sparked the partnership?
Collabs are a great way to explore adjacent categories and introduce Hill House to new audiences. Roller Rabbit’s playful prints and our signature silhouettes felt like such a natural match, resulting in a collection that’s joyful, colorful, and made for summer.
What’s something you’re loving right now that hasn’t hit everyone else’s radar yet?
I’ve always been drawn to pieces that feel a little unexpected. The most interesting homes and wardrobes are the ones that tell a story, and I think people are craving that sense of individuality right now. Our most recent Rainbow Fish capsule captures that feeling with aquatic novelty prints, shimmering textures, and embellishments that feel special.

Hill House and the Hamptons seem like a natural pairing. Do you find yourself drawing inspiration from the area?
Sag Harbor felt like such a natural next step because it holds so much meaning for us. So many of our customers spend their summers Out East, and there’s something special about being able to meet them where they are, during a time that feels relaxed, joyful, and carefree. That energy is reflected in how people dress for their actual lives out here. You need pieces that can move from the beach to lunch to dinner without feeling overly complicated.
What can you tease about what’s next for Hill House?
One thing we’re excited about is our retail expansion! By the end of 2027, Hill House will have 30 total stores, with each designed to feel residential and reflective of the brand’s roots in home and interiors. And we recently launched our first-ever campaign with Williams Sonoma! I started Hill House as a home brand, so this collaboration feels incredibly meaningful and full circle to see our prints and aesthetic come to life on so many different home, tabletop, entertaining, and furniture pieces.
