“Patricia has groomed this pet parade into a Southampton tradition,” said Patricia Gray, Executive Director of the Shelter, “and the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is grateful to her for her dedication and continued support.”
If you happened to be trick or treating on Main Street or Jobs Lane on Saturday, October 31st, chances are you saw the adorable menagerie of furry friends, dressed up in the cutest costumes. A record breaking number of paradegoers showed up to march in this year’s happening, with over 120 dogs participating, and even Yummy, a potbellied pig, and its owner joined in on the seasonal fun. Dressed up as a cuppa Hampton Coffee, lobsters, newlyweds, butterflies, pirates, minions, Donald Trump, and other creative getups, the group vied for the top honor in several costume contest categories, like Best Hampton Sea Creature, Best Pull Float, Best Political Pup, Bravest Hero Dog, and Prettiest Pooch. Judges, including Southampton Town Councilwoman Bridget Fleming, had the harrowing mission of selecting the fifteen winners.

Before and after the All Hallows’ Eve walk, Southampton Animal Shelter Board Member and realtor Beau Hulse entertained the crowd with Frank Sinatra hits. The afternoon included the chance to meet adoptable SASF cats and kittens, two of which found a forever home because of the parade. Attendees could also support the local shelter by entering the Chinese Auction, which featured items donated by local businesses.
