“Home movies are some of the most important historical records when it comes to learning about recent generations,” shared Andrea Grover, Century Arts Foundation Curator of Special Projects at the Parrish Art Museum. “They capture everyday life, unfiltered and without scripting.”
Do you have film footage of Southampton that would give viewers a blast from the past? If so, and you believe the vintage flick deserves its chance on the big screen, enter it to be screened during Home Sweet Home Movies, part of Parrish’s celebration of Southampton Town’s 375h Anniversary. The Water Mill-based museum is currently accepting submissions of 8mm, Super 8, or 16mm format historic home movies and amateur films that were shot in Southampton Town, and a select few will be viewed during the special event.
“By soliciting transfers of 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm films from community members, the Parrish hopes to uncover rare insights into the history of Southampton Town, its residents, and traditions,” noted Grover.
Those interested in submitting a film must email the following information to [email protected] with the subject line: “Home Sweet Home Movies Entry.”
The deadline for entries is Saturday, October 10th.
Home Sweet Home Movies will screen at the Parrish on Friday, November 13th at 6 p.m.
