Life@Nite: Montauk Staple Teams Up With “Rolling Stone” For Summer Concert Series

This weekend brings the start of several summer concert series, including a new one presented by Rolling Stone.

The Backyard at Solé East Resort (90 Second House Road, Montauk, 631-668-2105, www.soleeast.com) will have local reggae favorite Winston Irie and the Selective Security Band on Thursday, July 9th at 8 p.m. Solé East has teamed up with Wreckroom Records Women, Whalebone Creative, and Montauk Brewing Company for the 2015 debut of their annual summer concert series. The free performance will kickoff on Friday at 6 p.m. with Wreckroom Records’ The Skins, Idgy Dean and Alex Phoenix. Stop by Saturday for a poolside set by DJ Faze from 1 to 6 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. Sunday culminates with a Jazz and Bosso Nova Brunch with music by Ludmilla and Marcello from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Thursday, the Ilegal Music Series at The Surf Lodge (183 Edgemere Street, Montauk, 631-483-5037, thesurflodge.com) will feature Attic Ends. Saturday at the Montauk hotspot will include performances by Marian Hill and Donavon Frankenreiter, and on Sunday catch G.Love.

Thursday at the Stephen Talkhouse (161 Main Street, Amagansett, 631-267-3117, stephentalkhouse.com) starts with Robinson Treacher & Brad Cole at 8 p.m., followed by Revel In Dimes at 10 p.m. Friday features Junior Marvin of the Wailers at 8 p.m. and Rubix Kube at 10:30 p.m. Saturday showcases Loudon Wainwright III at 7 p.m., O El Amor at 9 p.m. and Booga Sugar at 10:30 p.m. Finish the weekend with the Peter Levin Band on Sunday at 9 p.m. and Reggae Night with Winston Irie at 10 p.m. Monday’s Open Mic Night kicks off at 10 p.m. Enjoy a tribute to Bob Dylan & The Band featuring Complete Unknowns and HooDoo Loungers on Tuesday at 8 p.m., followed by Industry Night with Phoenix Chapter and a DJ set at 10 p.m.

Certain Moves Trio will entertain the audience at Cowfish Hampton Bays (258 East Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, 631-594-3868, cowfishrestaurant.com) with a jazz funk concert on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Join the Wolffer Wine Stand (3312 Montauk Highway, Sagaponack, 631-537-5106, www.wolffer.com) on Friday for R&B, soul and dance classics from Perpetual Motion. Saturday showcases alt-country from Hopefully Forgiven. Both performances begin at 5 p.m.

Navy Beach (16 Navy Road, Montauk, 631-668-6868, www.navybeach.com) will have a sunset set from Nancy Atlas on Friday at 5 p.m. On Sunday, enjoy reggae from Winston Irie at 5 p.m.

Hang out with Conscience Point Promotions at Ciao By The Beach (250 Fort Pond Road, Montauk, 631-483-5100, www.ciaobythebeach) on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. during happy hour with Bumpin Uglies. On Sunday, Conscience Point Promotions is presenting the sweet rock n’ roll sounds of Andrew Cooper of Bull Run Union at Backbar Grille (78 Foster Avenue, Hampton Bays, 631-594-5442, backbargrille.com) from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Montauk Beach House (55 South Elmwood Avenue, Montauk, 631-668-2112, thembh.com) will have a completely vinyl set of old throwbacks, with a new twist from Brooklyn’s favorite duo and the creators of popular East Village Radio Station, Chances with Wolves, on Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. If you’ve been thinking about getting some new ink, meet Brooklyn-based tattoo artistry, 3 Kings Parlor, who will be set up poolside, offering free tattoos.

The opening reception for James Katsipis presents East 2.0 at The Atlantic Terrace (21 Oceanview Terrace, Montauk, jameskatsipis.com) will take place on Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. Along with checking out artwork from Matt Clark, Zak Bush, Andrew Blauschild, Tin Ojeda, James Katsipis, James Parascandola ,Dalton Portella, Bartholomew Schwarz, Evelyn O’Doherty, Grant Monahan, Walt Lindveld, Salvatore Termini, Jesse James Joeckel, Nate Best, Ian Cooke, Joe OHaire, PJ Monte, Ryan Moore, Paul Brook, and Mike “Nelly” Nelson, attendees will enjoy music from The Montauk Project, Fever, and DJ Matty Nice, beer from Montauk Brewing Company and a fire dance from Fiery Sensations.

Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina (32 Star Island Road, Montauk, 631-668-3100, www.montaukyachtclub.com) will have a special visit from Nature Nick on Saturday. The animal expert is bringing several furry friends, including a kangaroo, monkey and several exotic birds, to show off during two shows (at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) at MYC. Tickets are $10.

Long Island-based Oogee Wawa is bringing their fusion of alternative, reggae, and hip-hop music to The Sloppy Tuna (148 South Emerson Avenue, Montauk, 631-647-8000, www.thesloppytuna.com) on Sunday.

Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa (290 Old Montauk Highway, Montauk, 631-668-2345, www.gurneysmontauk.com), in collaboration with LDV Hospitality, is joining forces with Rolling Stone to host “Rolling Stone Presents,” a new Hamptons summer music series at The Beach Club. The oceanfront programming will debut on Sunday with Anderson East. The up-and-coming rhythm & blues artist’s first album, “Delilah,” will drop on Friday. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the concert starts at 3 p.m. And make sure to mark your calendars because DJ Windows 98, also known as Win Butler of Arcade Fire, is headlining the series on Friday, August 28th.
