“Concerned Citizens of Montauk, in cooperation with Group for the East End, Montauk School, EH Trails Preservation Society and Surfrider Foundation, is hosting The Great Montauk Cleanup,” noted Danielle Friscia, Director of Outreach at Concerned Citizens of Montauk (CCOM).
On Saturday, April 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., join the East End organizations and help preserve “The End” during The Great Montauk Cleanup. The rain date is Sunday, April 19th. Volunteers can stop by Kirk Park Parking Lot (next to the Montauk IGA) to collect bags and gloves. Then they can pick a Montauk beach, park or anywhere they think needs to a bit of “spring cleaning.” A dumpster will be stationed in Kirk Parking Lot for collected debris.
The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society is helping by hosting the 2 mile Right-of-Way Hike and Cleanup led by Eva Moore on Saturday, April 18th, which begins at 10 a.m. Volunteer should meet at Montauk Library parking lot on the east side of town opposite the Community Church. From there, attendees will walk along a charming fern-lined section of the Paumanok Path and visit some horses as they collect debris. For more information about the walk, call 631-238-5134 or 631-681-4774 on the day of hike.
