The Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s (BCRF) annual paddle and “Party for Pink” took the spotlight this past Saturday, August 16, 2014, when hundreds of supporters, including Mary-Kate Olsen, Olivier Sarkozy, Ashley Olsen, Molly Sims, Martha Stewart, Bethenny Frankel, Sean Avery Hilary Rhoda, Simon Doonan, Jonathan Adler, Nicole Miller, Katie Lee and Tracy Anderson, rallied together to fund future research projects and help find a cure for breast cancer. The day kicked off with a multi-skill paddle board race in Sag Harbor and culminated in the Sunset “Party for Pink” gala, one of the Hamptons most popular summer soirees.
The third annual fundraiser was co-hosted by designer Lisa Perry and Richard Perry as well as Maria Baum and Larry Baum. During the evening event, which was held at the stunning North Haven home of the Perry’s, co-host and cancer survivor Maria Baum said she was astounded with the amount of support they received. “I get incredibly overwhelmed with this,” expressed Baum. “The success of this party would not be possible without extraordinary commitment and generous friends.” Baum also dished on the paddle race which she and co-host Richard Perry participated in, saying it was “electric” and “simply amazing.”

A variety of specialty designed one-of-a-kind Laird paddle boards created by top designers and celebrities were showcased and auctioned at the event, attracting swarms of stars, including Donna Karan, Martha Stewart, Jonathan Adler, Hilary Rhoda, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Katie Lee and Bethenny Frankel. Apart from the boards, the highlight of the evening was a surprise performance by Grammy nominee Taylor Dayne. In a matter of seconds, Dayne had guests on their feet enjoying the music and dancing to her hot hits.
“There aren’t enough ways to say thank you to the Hamptons community for their warm welcome and extraordinary level of support for BCRF,” said Myra Biblowit, BCRF President & CEO. “More than 600 guests turned out in tribute to the Perry’s and the Baum’s, and their commitment to put breast cancer out of business.” In total, the night was a huge success raising well over $1.5 million and funding six different research projects. “Every nickel made will go directly to funding that research,” Baum promised attendees.

As the sun went down, guests enjoyed a beautiful sunset overlooking the water, which Larry Baum said was the late BCRF Senior Corporate Vice President, Evelyn Lauder, “looking over us.” Lauder’s husband, Leonard Lauder was extremely grateful for large turnout. “Each one of you here is responsible for a life that’s being saved,” Lauder told guests.
