Project MOST is hosting a series of Tuesday evening outdoor movies in August at the American Legion Hall in Amagansett. The screenings start with “Stand By Me” starring Jerry O’Connell, Corey Feldman, River Phoenix, and Wil Wheaton on Tuesday, August 5. “The Sandlot” starring Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, and Chauncey Leopardi will follow on Tuesday, August 12. See the 2007 remake of “Hairspray” starring Nikki Blonsky, John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, James Marsden, Zac Efron, Amanda Bynes, and Brittany Snow on Tuesday, August 19. The screenings will finish with “Forrest Gump” starring Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, and Sally Field on Tuesday, August 26. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the screenings begin at 8 p.m.
All proceeds from the outdoor movies will benefit Project MOST, an after school enrichment program in East Hampton. The Hamptons organization hopes to raise awareness for the program during the film series, which is sponsored by the Kate Cassidy Foundation.
“Our goal with the movie series is to first raise awareness of this vital program for East Hampton’s kids,” said Susan Gentile Hackett, Director of Development at Project MOST. “Some of these kids would literally have no other options for after school care. Others need help with their academics so that they can succeed in school, and later in life.”
