“It’s a combination of yoga stretches, pilates mat exercises, and conditioning,” noted Andrea Fornarola Hunsberger, who recently opened Elements Fitness Studio. “It’s a 60 minute class and works through all the main muscle groups and the accessories muscles.”
Fornarola Hunsberger, a professionally trained dancer, celebrity trainer and master fitness instructor, decided to open the East Hampton studio after realizing many of her clients have homes in the Hamptons. “It was my first season in New York giving group classes and we wanted to extend and our reach into the eastern end of Long Island and we stumbled upon this at the end of February.”

The studio offers a variety of Barre classes including the traditional Elements Barre Fitness, Elements Dance Cardio, Elements Cardio Barre Fusion and Barre Express, a 45 minute shortened version of the signature class.
The signature, Elements Barre Fitness, reshapes and reforms the body by combining isometric exercises with interval training. Class begins with a light warm up incorporating a bit of cardio and sets targeting the biceps, triceps and the core. Once warmed up, the class moves to the ballet bar for full body exercises which really focus on the legs. “While at the ballet bar, we work the hamstrings, we work the quads, and outer thighs with the playground ball,” said Fornarola Hunsberger. “That’s the part of the class where we overload the muscles. That’s why you start to shake.” The final session works the abdominals, starting with the “flat back,” and is followed by a cool down.
