The Parrish Art Museum’s summer concert series is set to begin on Friday, May 23, 2014, and ring on through the summer this year. With two great series this year, the Museum is sure to be a frequent destination for our summer residents. In a casual, outdoor musical setting under a covered terrace, the Museum plans to host concerts on Friday nights from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM until September 5 with a roster of bands ranging from Reggae, Latin Jazz, Blue Grass, Brazilian jazz, and more!
According to the series co-organizers at the Museum, Andrea Grover, Curator of Special Projects, and Amy Kirwin, Associate Development Officer for Museum Events and Visitor Services, “Our summer music program brings together performers of diverse musical persuasions and encourages all ages to dance, dine, socialize or just enjoy the fresh air.”
The Sounds of Summer series begins on Friday, May 23, with The Hoodoo Loungers, and it will continue on the first Friday of every month. The Jazz en Plein Air concert series begins on Friday, May 30, with drummer Eliot Zigmund, along with Ed MacEachen on guitar and Mike Eckroth on organ. The Jazz en Plein Air concert series will continue throughout the summer on the last Friday of the month until September 5.
Attendees of the summer concert series are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace and Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Foundation Event Lawn. Food and beverages are available for purchase at the Museum’s Cafè, and all concerts are free with Museum admission.
