“It’s overwhelming, it’s exciting, it’s humbling,” Chris Evans told the NY Daily News about taking on the role of Captain America. “You can’t help but feel an enormous sense of gratitude.” The 32-year-old actor was joined by “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, and Frank Grillo at a screening of the film hosted by Gucci Guilty and the Cinema Society in New York City.
Playing Marvel superhero does have its disadvantages. “To be honest, I don’t even think they wash those things,” he joked about the iconic suit. “You come to the set every day and you’re like, ‘I don’t know, this kind of smells a little ripe.'”

A recent “Vanity Fair” article sparked rumors that the superhero franchise could be Evans’ last acting role. “If I’m acting at all, it’s going to be under Marvel contract, or I’m going to be directing,” he told the Magazine. “I can’t see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I’m contractually obligated to do.”
But the actor, whose resume includes two “Fantastic Four” films as well as a role in “Thor” and “The Avengers,” isn’t hanging up his shield and mask just yet. During an appearance on “Good Morning America,” he clarified his plans for the future. “By no means am I planning on retiring,” said Evans. “It’s kind of a silly statement. But I certainly am going to try to focus a bit more on directing at this point.”
