Katy’s Courage is hosting the fourth annual Katy’s Courage 5K to raise funds for local organizations on Saturday, April 5.
Check in is from 7 to 8:15 a.m., and the race begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Runners, both competitive and noncompetitive, are encouraged to participate. Last year, the race attracted over 1,200 runners with ages ranging from 4 to 87-years-old. It rose over $35,000 through participation, sponsorships and cash donations.
The 5k through Sag Harbor Village starts at 21 West Water Street, heads north and makes a right onto Main Street. Runners will then make a right onto Glover Street, run through the Redwood section of the course and finish back on Water Street. Prizes will be awarded for the top three overall male and female participants.
Katy’s Courage was created in memory of Katy Stewart and is dedicated to education, pediatric cancer research and counseling. Proceeds from Katy’s Courage 5K will benefit high school scholarships awarded to local graduating students, a donation to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the creation of Katy’s Kids @ CMEE, the Children’s Museum of the East End
The cost to pre-register is $25 and $30 the day of. One lucky online pre-registered runner will be chosen to receive a Silver 16GB iPad Mini, courtesy of Geek Hampton.
