LemonARF Hits the Hamptons

These are not your typical lemonade stands.

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) has started a “LemonARF” program in which kids sell lemonade in effort to raise money for the non-profit based in Wainscott. ARF is not associated or working with any other regional animal rescue funds.

“Over the years, kids have taken it upon themselves to raise money for the animals but we thought we would make an official program to get more kids to care,” said Director of Marketing and Communications Jamie Berger.

In years past, kids from the around the Hamptons have started their own street-side lemonade stand and donated the proceeds to ARF.

This year, ARF will be providing young entrepreneurs with kits filled with recipes for lemonade and baked goods, posters, buttons, a mini bank and official LemonARF cups.

Children of all ages are allowed to participate. Anyone who is interested in a kit is welcome. ARF decided to start the program now since kids will soon be leaving school for summer vacation.

Last year, when kids were donating on their own, ARF raked in $2,500, according to Berger.

“We’re hoping… to double that number,” she said.
