UPDATE: This event will now take place on Friday, December 18 at 8:00 p.m.
That Motown Band will take over Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center’s (WHBPAC) iconic Mainstage on Thursday, December 17 for a special livestream concert presented in collaboration with The Town Hall in New York City.
The merry performance will commence at 8:00 p.m. “This is an exciting collaboration with The Town Hall and will showcase our theatre to a broader audience,” said WHBPAC Communications Manager Heather Draskin.
That Motown Holiday Show will include holiday hits from the sixties and seventies, as well as classic Motown standards from Smokey Robinson, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and more.
Garfield Fleming and Johnny Gale, a duo of music industry veterans, helm That Motown Band. For over two decades, Fleming has also showcased his talents as a soul vocalist for the funk band The Delfonics, while Gale, a Grammy nominated producer, composer, arranger, vocalist and guitarist, has shared the stage and recorded with Cyndi Lauper, Dion, Ronnie Spector, Darlene Love, Louden Wainwright III, Joan Osborne, The Soul Survivors, Hank Ballard and more. He was recently lauded with the East Coast Music Hall of Fame Legend Musician Award.
That Motown Band has impressed audiences across the nation with their soul classics at notable venues like Center City in Philadelphia, the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, and the Charleston Music Hall in South Carolina.
Tickets for That Motown Holiday Show are $15. “Patrons can purchase tickets to share the livestream experience and watch – virtually – together,” added Draskin. If “concert-goers” already have plans at 8:00 p.m., a one-time-use link will be emailed upon purchase, which can be viewed up to 72 hours after the concert.
After the pandemic shuttered the historic theatre back in March, WHBPAC set out to creatively rework its 2020 season, which has included drive-in concerts, virtual events, and drive-in movie screenings. “We’re very lucky that we adapted quickly at the onset of the pandemic to livestreaming events,” reflected Executive Director Julienne Penza-Boone. “This will be a festive and fun show to kick up your heels and relive the magic of Motown.”
