The Neo-Political Cowgirls (NPC) typically commemorate the coldest months of the year with the beloved ZIMA! (Polish for “winter”) outdoor scavenger hunt, and this year NPC will present their inaugural ode to spring – PRIMAVERA!
Keeping in line with social distancing, the 360 degree, Virtual Reality “immersive” performance will take attendees on an exciting expedition where they will come across a mysterious and uproarious troupe, as they seek clues that will assist them solve a riddle.
“Musae.me, our curatorial sponsor, was already in the pipeline for 360 VR remote programming before COVID struck, so they were ready to go with presenting this type of content when things got shit down for theater artists making public work,” Kate Mueth, The Neo-Political Cowgirls Founder and Artistic Director, explained. “This will be a first of several such offerings from NPC and we are excited to explore and play with how our brand of site-specific, performance art co-mingles with VR technology.”
The interactive experience is appropriate for all ages. The magical voyage will take approximately 45 minutes, and can be experienced with or without VR goggles.
“We are excited and expect it to only grow and improve the expansive possibilities for our content offerings,” Mueth said.
Tickets/Contribution Levels start at $5. Those that purchase a patron level ticket ($50) will be invited to a special pre-show “reception” on Zoom with Mueth.
“PRIMAVERA! is our spring version of our popular annual ZIMA! productions where myth crosses over with audience interaction and a deep dive into nature and theatricality,” Mueth shared.
Additionally, as PRIMAVERA! is taking place over Mother’s Day weekend, NPC is offering a special gift, Mother’s Day Missives, that can be sent to mom via email. Mother’s Day Missives is a thoughtful, gorgeous “card” consisting of: “8 curated, women-centric images of art (such as those in the comment section) based on your chosen theme; Three or more pieces of writing – poetry, essays and/or quotes by women writers; Links to three pieces of thematic music by female musician; One fun, simple, self-gratitude fill-in-the-blank activity; Ending with a short mindfulness meditation recording for them to listen to. (Link remains active forever!).” Missives, which are donation based (with a suggested contribution of $5 to $20) will go out at 7:00 a.m. on Mother’s Day.
The Neo-Political Cowgirls, a not-for-profit dance theater company, is “dedicated to exploring and celebrating the female voice.”
