Billy Joel’s Former Hamptons Office Sells

Last listed for $2.2 million, 7 Powell Avenue in Southampton, the former office space of Billy Joel, has sold.

The former potato barn, grain barn and weigh station was built in 1884.

“The building is drenched in historic details and period touches, including intricate hand-laid brickwork, arched brick doorways, hand-hewn pine floors and beams and a working antique freight elevator,” Brenda Giufurta of Douglas Elliman, who the property was listed with, said. “This is truly a trophy building.”

Sited on .21 acres, the mixed-use building is zoned for retail, light industry and office – with The Piano Man utilizing it for the latter. This marks only the third time that the space has been listed in the past 100 years.

The three-floor period building offers more than 8,000 square feet. Its previous owner had owned the space for nearly 50 years.
