On Saturday, July 24th, Guild Hall held a special presentation of the documentary “The Lost Leonardo”. Fresh from the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival, the film tells the story of the 2017 $450 million sale at Christie’s of “Salvator Mundi”, the most expensive painting ever sold. The global controversy about its being a real long-lost masterpiece by da Vinci or not, is an interesting story of expertise, art provenance, fame, power and money.

The screening was presented by the Hamptons International Film Festival and Sony Pictures Classics. Actor and HIFF Board Co-Chair Alec Baldwin and HIFF Artistic Director David Nugent held a discussion and Q&A after the film. www.GuildHall.org

U.S. Open Championship Trophy Arrives at Shinnecock Hills

The 126th U.S. Open returns to the historic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club from June 18–21, 2026, bringing the world’s top golfers to one of the sport’s most revered golf courses. On Friday, June 12th, the U.S. Open Championship Trophy arrived at the new Shinnecock Hills Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). President of the Long Island Rail Road Robert Free accompanied the trophy aboard the LIRR and was welcomed by USGA Senior Director Eric Steimer at the station.
