"There's a perception outside the community that everyone in the Hamptons is well-off, but in our outreach efforts, we see countless families struggling to provide basic necessities," Steve Long noted.
It was that night that I first realized what tight communities the East End villages are.
"The glow of the jack-o-lantern on the porch, the wreath adorning the front door, the candles or menorah glowing in the window," Nancy Remkus of the Sag Harbor History Society noted. "It reminds us that life is to be celebrated."
"This is not a political issue, but a human rights and moral issue. It is essential to work together to help our neighbors in need," Cathy Demeroto said about food insecurity.
"In Riverhead, we work hard to offer extraordinary free community events throughout the seasons," Kristy Verity noted. "Halloween Fest is a wonderful Downtown celebration that delivers a fun, safe Halloween experience to our town and we welcome everyone to visit for an experience unlike any other on Long Island."
What I love about the Hamptons this time of year is seeing so many pumpkins lining the farm stands off most of the major roads.
If your little one just can't get enough Halloween happenings, here's where to celebrate.
"The Harvest Festival is a culmination of our mission through food, music, culture, arts, education and agricultural heritage," Sylvester Manor Executive Director Stephen Searl noted.
If your little one cannot wait to don their impressive Halloween costume, there will be many chances to show off their ensemble across the East End.
"It's a true community event to celebrate Fall and the harvest season," Glenn O. Vickers explained.
