New York Film Critics Circle feted the top films of 2016 during an awards dinner at TAO Downtown in New York City. The evening celebrated “Manchester by the Sea” and “Moonlight” - both films earned three wins each, as well as "La La Land" - which took home Best Picture.

Paramount Pictures presented a special screening of "Fences" at the Rose Theater at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. The event brought out many of the film's stars, including Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, and Russell Hornsby, as well as Usher, Olympian Gabby Douglas, Bebe Neuwirth, Reverend Al Sharpton and many other notable names.
The iconic Sag Harbor Cinema was torn down today as a result of a massive fire that blazed through the roof of the theatre and damaged surrounding businesses as well. Built in 1930, Friday's fire proved too much for the old girl. A saddened community will remember the familiar structure with fondness.

The New York Junior League (NYJL) hosted a Leadership Council Event at Astor House in Manhattan. Prominent philanthropist and author, Jean Shafiroff, served as the event's featured keynote speaker. She spoke about philanthropy as well as her debut book, "Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give" – a guide to modern philanthropy.
Willie Geist, of Today Show and Morning Joe, hosted Volunteers of America-Greater New York's Winter's Eve Gala at The Plaza Grand Ballroom in Manhattan. The evening raised over $700,000, which will support more than 90 life-changing social service programs that help tens of thousands or people and families in need in the Greater New York area every year.

The 13th annual Polar Bear Plunge at Coopers Beach in Southampton was an overwhelming success. Despite the frigid temperature, hundreds of brave attendees took the plunge into the Atlantic Ocean in support of the Human Resources of the Hamptons.
