Beyonce Discusses New Album, The Hamptons, Getting Her Body Back, Motherhood, And Her Sensuality

“I had a grand idea to invite all the writers I respected to the Hamptons,” said Beyonce about her self-titled fifth album “Beyonce.” The “Single Ladies” singer shocked the music world and fans when she released the new album on Friday, December 13, without any warning. In Part 4 (“Liberation”) of “Self-Titled,” a mini documentary which details Beyoncé’s outlook and vision for the project, the singer discusses motherhood, getting her body back, and the Hamptons.

The recording process began back in summer of 2012 while she was staying with her husband Jay-Z and newborn Blue Ivy at a $400,000-a-month mansion in the Hamptons. The 11-acre Bridgehampton property, the Sandcastle, was where artists including The Dream, Sia, and Hit-Boy collaborated with the superstar.

For the chart-topping record, the process was surprisingly relaxed. “We had so much fun. We had dinners together, my family was there and I was breastfeeding with corn rows in my hair,” noted Sasha Fierce.

While most of her time in the Hamptons was spent “being a mother,” she did manage to find a few hours every day to record. “In real life I was this woman. This mother trying to get my focus, my dreams and myself back.”

Many of the songs on the album were inspired by the newest addition to the Carter family and after the bundle of joy was born, the singer “worked crazily” to get her body back. While filming videos for “Beyonce,” the singer wasn’t afraid to show off that hard work. “I wanted to show my body,” said Beyonce. “I know finding my sensuality, getting back into my body, being proud of growing up, it was important to me because I know that there are so many women that feel the same thing after giving birth.”

Mrs. Carter hopes that “Beyonce” is an inspiration to all women. “You can have your child and you can still have fun and still be sexy and still have dreams and still live for yourself.”
