Once again, The Allstate Foundation has chosen The Retreat as a Purple Purse Challenge Community Partner, giving the East Hampton-based organization the chance to participate in the online-only fundraising campaign that begins on Thursday, October 1st. The Retreat is one of only 161 domestic violence services agencies nationwide.
“We are proud to have been selected by The Allstate Foundation again this year to bring awareness to financial abuse, especially during Domestic Violence Awareness Month,” said Loretta K. Davis, Executive Director at The Retreat.
The campaign will feature a series of weekly contests to create public awareness and raise funds for financial empowerment services. During the Purple Purse Challenge, The Allstate Foundation will be donating $495,000 to organizations that are dedicated to ending domestic violence and helping with financial independence for survivors. The Purple Purse Challenge winner will receive a $100,000 grand prize.
For 28 years, The Retreat has provided domestic violence services and education to the East End community. Its 24-hour bilingual hotline delivers assistance and resources to those in need, and The Retreat has offered financial empowerment services since 2002. Hope Heels, its newest program, guides at-risk individuals on how to become financially independent.

While one out of four women report abuse by a partner throughout their lifetimes, an astonishing three out of four Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of abuse. The Purple Purse program was founded to spark the conversation about domestic violence and financial abuse.
