Who says Halloween is just for kids? If you’re over the age where it’s appropriate to be out and about trick or treating, but can’t get enough spooky sightings and All Hallows’ Eve entertainment, here are seven East End events for you:
1. Quogue Wildlife Refuge (3 Old Country Road, Quogue) is hosting the 22nd Annual Spooky Walk on Friday, October 23rd, Saturday, October 24th, and Friday, October 30th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Those courageous enough to hike the dark and haunted Refuge trails might come across some ghouls and goblins that will take over their spirit. Each guided walk lasts approximately forty minutes and reservations are required. The Spooky Walk is for adults and families with children over 7 and admission is $15 per person. 2. The East Hampton Historical Society is holding a Haunted Cemetery Tour on
Tuesday, October 27th at 6:30 p.m. The walk will be led by Hugh King, the East Hampton Village Historian and Town Crier, and feature a traditional All Hallows’ Eve tour of the South End Burying Ground. 3. The Hallock Homestead has kept visitors in the dark about its shocking, hair-raising secrets… until now. On Friday, October 30th, find out about over 250 years of terrifying tales during Haunted Hallockville Museum Tours (6038 Sound Avenue, Riverhead). 4. Parrish Art Museum (279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill) is presenting a Halloween-themed Architectural Session on Friday, October 30th at 6 p.m. Host Maziar Behrooz and guest lecturers will cover a specific power that has “haunted” their practice and caused an irreplaceable impact on a particular venture or in their general practice and how this inspiration was ultimately used. 5. The Suffolk Theater (118 East Main Street, Riverhead) will host legendary comedians Artie Fletcher and Long Island’s own Bob Nelson during Gallagher’s Pumpkin Smash on Friday, October 30th at 8 p.m. Come with a pancho and raincoats, and be prepared to get splattered as you watch Gallagher and his infamous “Sledge-O-Matic” blast open the fall favorite. 6. The park naturalist is holding a special “All Things Spooky” scavenger hunt hike through Camp Hero State Park in Montauk. On Saturday, October 31st at 1 p.m., attendees will “seek” for mysterious items from a list that includes plants, animals and buildings. 7. Sylvester Manor (80 North Ferry Road, Shelter Island) will bring attendees on a frightening journey during Mysteries of the Manor: Tales Tall and True on Saturday, October 31st from 1 to 4 p.m. Those not afraid of a visit from the other side can experience eerie encounters during a tour through the Manor House, where they will learn about 300 years of Sylvester family ghost stories and spooky lure. The afternoon will also include haunted hayrides, a pirate themed treasure hunt, and ghoulish entertainment and games with tricks and treats for all. Admission is $5 and free for kids 4 and under.
