The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF) recently received a donation of 10,000 pet meals, valued at $5,100, from Halo, Purely for Pets, thanks to Julianne Moore.
The “Still Alice” actress took home the award for Best Actress at this year’s Oscars and the honor also earned her a donation to the group of her choosing. Moore, who is pretty active on the Hamptons charity scene, picked ARF. “We were thrilled to be chosen,” expressed Michele Forrester, ARF’s Senior Director of Operations & Partnership Programs. “Every donation helps towards the bottom line of our budget.”
10,000 pet meals, which equates to 2,500 pounds, was dropped off at the Wainscott-based animal shelter, courtesy of Halo and Freekibble.com. ARF plans to use the kibble for its Operation Cat (Op Cat) Program, the East End’s most effective TNR (trap/neuter/release) efforts. Along with spaying and neutering feral cats from Brookhaven Township to Montauk, Operation Cat also offers complimentary food to volunteers that care for the huge population of community cats throughout the year. ARF expects the generous contribution to provide nourishment and health to its Op Cat colonies through the end of 2015.

This grant is part of a collaboration between GreaterGood.org, FreeKibble.com, and HALO, to aid with the burden of feeding homeless animals.
