Since earlier this year, the dogs and cats who were brought to Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF) in anticipation of finding a forever home were housed in rented trailers located in the back parking lot at the ARF Adoption Center, as the animal shelter eagerly awaited the completion of its renovation. Well, for the animals still waiting for their perfect match and the staff at ARF, the time to unveil the updated Medical Wing Transport Center is finally here.
“At ARF our top priority is the health and well-being of our animals,” explained Jennifer Rockford, Director of Philanthropy. “This newly renovated transport center will help ensure that all of our rescue animals, cats and dogs alike, begin their search for a loving home in the best possible conditions.”
ARF began the project, which was led by the Bacon Group, one of the nation’s leading architects of animal-holding facilities, earlier this year. The renovations include two new isolation rooms, new epoxy flooring, a modular T-Kennel system, a new drainage system, a walk-in bathing tub, a washer/dryer and food-prep area. All of which ARF says has “greatly increased the comfort of the animals and the efficiency of the staff caring for them.”

The Medical Wing Transport Center will serve as the initial stop for resident animals when they arrive at ARF from a rescue transport, and is also the official Pet Evacuation Center for the Town of East Hampton.
