Over 1,000 Runners And Walkers Expected At 21st Annual Ellen’s Run

On Sunday, August 21st, runners and walkers of all ages will come out to participate in the 21st Annual Ellen’s Run, presented by The Ellen Hermanson Foundation.

“Every year, Ellen’s Run gets bigger and better,” noted Julie Ratner, Ed.D., Co-Founder of The Ellen Hermanson Foundation. “And this year is no different.”

The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. at Parrish Memorial Hall at Southampton Hospital, which is also where it will commence.

The event brings out over 1,000 attendees from all walks of life and is the largest of its kind on the East End. “I am always thrilled by the generosity of the volunteers who help make Ellen’s Run possible, the Village of Southampton, Southampton Hospital and all the local businesses that contribute so much,” Ratner expressed. “Most of all, I am awed by all the breast cancer survivors who participate showing us that they are not only surviving, but thriving, and all the people who come to support the mission of The Ellen Hermanson Foundation, ‘to provide access to state-of-the-art quality breast care and to enable people affected by cancer.'”

Ratner co-founded The Ellen Hermanson Foundation along with sister Emily Levin in 1997 to honor the memory of their sister, Ellen Hermanson, and to continue the vital work that she dedicated so much of her time and energy to. “And guiding me is the memory of my sister Ellen Hermanson,” said Ratner. “Twenty-one years after her passing, she continues to inspire me with the courage, grace and generosity with which she led her live after a brutal diagnosis.”

Ellen’s Run supports The Ellen Hermanson Foundation, the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital, and Ellen’s Well.

“Southampton Hospital encourages runners and walkers alike to participate in this year’s Ellen’s Run,” added Robert Chaloner, Southampton Hospital President and CEO. “It is always an amazing event and it supports patients at the Hospital’s Ellen Hermanson Breast Center.”

Registration is $30, but $25 for children 12-years-old or younger or for those 65-years-old or older.
