Will you pledge to plunge? Join the community in the 7th annual Shelter Island Turkey Plunge on Saturday, November 26th at 11 a.m. on Crescent Beach in Shelter Island. This event is rain, snow, or shine! The Turkey Plunge is sponsored by the Friends of the Shelter Island Public Library and will benefit the Shelter Island Public Library.
“This is the biggest fund raiser for the Friends of the Shelter Island Library,” said Andrew Ward, Chairman of Friends of the Shelter Island Library. “We give all the money we raise to special projects that might not be covered in their budget. This makes our community library a much more special place!”
Participants should arrive at Crescent Beach (Sunset Beach parking lot) after 10 a.m. to check-in. If you have already filled out a form and signed the release, please check-in and get your t-shirt and button at the pre-registration table. If you are in costume, make sure to visit the judges table so they can appreciate your creativity and pick a winner!
T-shirts and buttons will be available for all participants. There will also be delicious and much needed hot apple cider and donuts for plungers and spectators. SALT Waterfront Bar & Grill will have hot turkey chili for sale for the benefit of the Friends.

There is no standard for plunging! Ankles, knees, waist, or head under are all acceptable!
Prizes will be given for the following categories: Best Costume, Male Best Costume, Female Most Money Raised, Individual Most Money Raise, and Team. Other prizes will be raffled off and your registration is your raffle ticket. Stick around after the event when the winners will be notified!

All participants can either register online by visiting, clickandpledge.com, or at the Shelter Island Library. Each registered individual should raise a minimum of $25 for a plunge and anything over that amount is gratefully received. You will also be in the running for the “most money raised” prize. Sponsors can also pledge directly to the participant by visiting clickandpledge.com.
