The Clamshell Foundation is looking for the latest artist to feature on a limited edition t-shirt that will be available at the Foundation’s beloved annual Sandcastle Contest – which will take place at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett on Saturday, August 4.
“Since 1992 we have worked with artists to create limited edition shirts that embody the spirit of the East End,” Kori Peters of The Clamshell Foundation shared. “We sell these shirts to raise money for all of our endeavors.” The Foundation – whose mission is to “support the people, programs, and projects of the East End of Long Island” – does so by leading turkey and toy drives during the holidays, and more.

100 percent of proceeds raised during Clamshell Foundation events are given straight back to the community, backing local endeavors like college scholarships, food banks and fish seeding programs.
In addition to the Sandcastle Contest, the not-for-profit also presents The Great Bonac Fireworks (Saturday, July 14) – another beloved Hamptons summer tradition.
Previous featured artists have included Roy Lichtenstein, John Jinks, Scott Bluedorn, Grant Hafner, Charles Waller, Jessica Lownes, David Gochenour, Deloss McGraw, Jerry Cooke, Jan Sawka, Irene H Olivieri, Sofo, Marcie Honerkamp, Dan Rizzie, Justin Smith, Kimberly Pillco, Sydney Albertini, Randall Rosenthal, Peter Spacek, David Geiser, Rossetti Perchik, and Peter Max.
As a thanks to the local artistic community, the winner will receive a special prize: a $500 gift certificate The Golden Eagle.
“We want to give back to the art community and continue to support those who are inspired by the beautiful place we live,” Peters added. “We hope this $500 grant for supplies at The Golden Eagle help artists start, continue or complete a project they are working on.”
The contest is open anyone who finds their artwork is influenced by the area. “Artists do not have to reside here full time, but the work they submit should ideally be about/inspired by the East End,” Peters added.
To enter the contest, send a high res jpeg of the piece of work to [email protected] and include a short blurb about how living/spending time in the East End inspires your work.
The deadline to submit an entry is Thursday, May 31 and The Clamshell Foundation will announce the winner by Friday, June 15.
The late Rossetti Perchik founded The Clamshell Foundation to show his admiration for the East Hampton community and local waters, and to bring the community together during events that all can enjoy.
