Paws On Parade To Include Walk To The Ocean, Animal Agility Course, A “Frankenstein Follies” Appearance, And More

Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is once again partnering with the Southampton History Museum to present the 3rd annual Paws on Parade.

On Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a plethora of fun for the entire family, including four-legged friends, taking place at the Museum’s Rogers Mansion in Southampton. The afternoon will also include a scenic walk to the ocean.

Paws on Parade is spearheaded by Southampton Animal Shelter and Southampton History Museum Board Member, Sean Deneny. “Paws on Parade is a true family event—and what could be more family-oriented than an event at the Southampton History Museum?” he relayed.

The ode to our beloved animals will boast contests, an agility course, auctions, photo opportunities with the cast of Bay Street’s Frankenstein Follies, face painting and much more.

“Just as our pets complete our families, the Museum completes our town and, consequently, our memories,” Deneny reflected. “We couldn’t be prouder than to have a shared event on Museum grounds with the Southampton Shelter as a recipient of all proceeds at this celebratory event.”

Those that choose to participate in the stroll, which commences at 12 p.m., will mosey from the Rogers Mansion to the Bathing Corporation beach, a 23 minute walk one way. Additionally, a “Blessing of the Animals” will be held at St. John’s Church. Limited return transportation from the beach will be provided, courtesy of Town & Country Real Estate.

“Dogs first came to Southampton 12,000 years ago along with Paleo-Indian tribes,” Tom Edmonds, Southampton History Museum Executive Director, noted. “The Southampton History Museum is celebrating this tradition with games, refreshments, kids in Halloween costumes, dog agility test and a pet adoption bus presented by the Southampton Animal Shelter.”

There will also be light bites.

“Fun for everyone in the family,” Edmonds added.

Admission to Paws on Parade is $20 for adults in advance ($25 at the gate) and free for kids under 16-years-old.
