Amsterdam State Park Hike

Join us on Valentine’s Day for a lovely, diverse, short but rugged hike at Amsterdam State Park in Montauk. This popular hike is a scenic loop that takes us through a blend of coastal woodlands and bluffs, leading to a picturesque beach on the Atlantic Ocean. The trail itself meanders through American holly, oak trees, scrub oak and shad, among others. It also features vistas of “the moorlands.” Directions: Take Montauk Point State Boulevard (Route 27) and turn right (south) at the Amsterdam sign, across the road from the Deep Hollow Ranch sign. Distance: 2.6 miles plus any rocky beach walking we might do depending on participants’ interest. Time: 10:00-12:00. Leader: Amy Ruhle, 631-521-3602; [email protected].
