Free Community Jazz Jam Returns: East End Jazz & SCC Present “Sing-Along the American Songbook” Jazz Jam Session
East End Jazz, in collaboration with the Southampton Cultural Center (SCC), is proud to announce the return of the “East Meets West Jazz Jam Session” on Sunday, March 8th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In honor of Women’s History Month, this special edition features local vocalists Ludmilla Benevides and Vanessa Trouble accompanied by Jane Hastay on piani, Iris Ornig on bass and Carl Sarafina on drums.. The afternoon kicks off with a 35-minute performance of the American Songbook, where the audience is invited to sing along—lyrics provided!
Come sing with us to classics like ‘Fly me to the Moon”, “Summertime’, What a difference a day made, Girl from Ipanema and more.
Following the opening set, the stage opens for a multi-generational jazz jam. “My goal is to have all generations participating—from students to pros,” says Iris Ornig, Director of East End Jazz. “Last month we had musicians from ages 14 to 80. Sharing the stage. This time, we’re bringing the audience into the music by singing along. It’s about community, joy, and being in the moment”
