The East End is known to be home to some of the freshest seafood in the world. On Wednesday, September 6, get ready to dig in during Hook ’em & Cook ’em with Barcelona Wine Bar at Navy Beach in Montauk from 7 to 10 p.m. This exclusive dock-to-dish inspired culinary competition and private dinner will feature chefs from across the country, along with James Beard Award Winner Christopher Lee. After a day on the open water, chefs will bring back fluke, striped bass, and bluefish.
Using their respective “catch of the day,” chefs will prepare an exclusive family-style meal that includes produce, seafood, beer, and wine from local partners Amber Waves Farm, Dock to Dish, Montauk Brewing Company, and Paumanok Vineyards. There will also be a bit of friendly competition as dinner guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite course from the evening. An assortment of canapés will be provided by Navy Beach and a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the Barcelona Wine Bar chefs together for a chef-vs-chef Dock to Dish inspired culinary competition and dinner,” said Chef Christopher Lee, Cultinary Director of Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurants. “It will be interesting to see how the chefs will work together as teams and how their strengths in the kitchen will complement one another in this type of environment.”
Barcelona Wine Bar is an award-winning tapas restaurant with 14 locations across Atlanta, GA, Washington, DC, Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Nashville, TN, and through Connecticut. They have been entertaining diners with flavorful small plates, daring design, and a welcoming atmosphere since 1996. Navy Beach came to the Montauk restaurant scene in 2010. They have been called the “perfect destination for summer dining,” by the New York Times. The restaurant is laid-back, family-friendly, and includes spectacular waterfront views.
The Navy SEAL foundation’s mission is “to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community and its families. U.S. Navy SEALs have been in sustained combat for over 16 years, performing hazardous work in unforgiving environments at an unrelenting pace.” There are SEALs currently deployed in over 35 countries around the world and they spend up to 270 days each year in danger. This evening is about giving back to the SEALs tireless efforts to protect our country.
“I am especially excited to be working with the best-of-the-best local Montauk partners-we are all greatly honored to be providing a portion of the proceeds to the Navy SEAL Foundation. It’s going to a great night,” added Chef Lee.
