New Casual Seafood Eatery Opens In Montauk

Montauk officially has a new seafood take out eatery. Brian and Gillian Mooney’s Hooked made its Hamptons debut on Tuesday, May 1.

Located at the former Red Hook Lobster Pound spot, Hooked patrons can expect a menu that boasts seafood, salads and land fare.

“We wanted to create a place where both locals and summer visitors could enjoy restaurant quality food in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price,” Brian Mooney shared. “It’s quick serve. Think killer lobster rolls, steamed lobsters, a raw bar and salads too.”

No stranger to the East End culinary scene, Brian has showed off his shucking expertise at the iconic Clam Bar at Napeague for the past 24 years, while his wife Gillian is a co-owner of Herb’s Market in Montauk.

Diners will be able to order at the counter and either enjoy their eats at picnic tables outside on the patio or take it to go.

Hooked “bait & lures” (starters) include chowders – both New England and Manhattan will be available, crab & corn and lobster bisque, tuna bites, fried calamari, steamed mussels, and peel and eat shrimp. “Locally hooked” will feature grilled tuna, swordfish or mahi mahi, a tuna poke bowl and fish tacos, while “locally dug” (raw bar) items will revolve around Montauk pearl oysters, local clams and local steamers. If fried seafood platters are more your thing, look to “boats with fries” options – fish ‘n’ chips, fried shrimp, fried soft shell crab, fried scallops, fried clams and more. For those not in the mood for seafood, salads will feature a house salad with kale quinoa, cranberries, cojita cheese and orange segments with a cranberry citrus vinaigrette, and a beet and arugula salad with blood orange and shallot vinaigrette, and “off the hook” (land fare) will encompass a burger, BBQ baby back ribs, grilled chicken sandwich and a veggie burger.

There will also be a special menu for “little guppies” with fish bites, chicken goujons, grilled cheese, and a hot dog.

Prices range from $6 to $25. Hooked will be open every day of the week during the in season, from 11: 30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
